WSU adds 49 names to All-Academic list

The Big Sky Conference has released the names belonging to the 2012 Spring Academic All-Conference teams. Weber State University had 49 student athletes named to each corresponding team, including women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. With 49 student athletes’ names on the individual teams, WSU represents the largest number of any school within the Big Sky Conference.

Twenty-five of the 49 student athletes were members of WSU’s women’s outdoor track and field team. The Wildcat team finished in fourth place in the women’s 2012 outdoor track and field Big Sky Conference Championship in Bozeman, Mont., and sent five to continue their competition in the first round of the NCAA Championships in Iowa.

Ten of the 49 student athletes named on the academic all-conference teams represent the Wildcat men’s outdoor track and field team. The men’s team finished third in the Big Sky Conference Championship and sent four student athletes to the first round of the NCAA Championships in Iowa.

The WSU men’s tennis team had four names on the academic all-conference team. The team lost to the University of Montana in the Big Sky Conference Championship semifinals.

The women’s tennis team had five names added to the team. The Wildcat women’s tennis team finished 2-7 in the Big Sky Conference.

The Wildcat women’s golf team also had five names selected to the academic all-conference team. The team finished the 2012 season sixth in the Big Sky Conference Tournament.
