Rahe named Utah Sportsman of the Year

The National MS Society, Utah-Southern Idaho chapter, has named Weber State University men’s basketball coach Randy Rahe the Utah Sportsman of the Year.

Rahe will be presented the award on Sept. 18 in Sandy, Utah. Other recipients include former Aggie Paul Kruger of the Cleveland Browns as Sports Professional of the Year, Utah State University quarterback Chuckie Keeton as the Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year, and the Lone Peak High School boys’ basketball team as Team of the Year.

Rahe is in his eighth season coaching the Wildcats. He has led WSU to three Big Sky Championships and six postseason appearances.

Football adds Boise State transfer

The Weber State University football team has added Deon’tae Florence to the roster.

Florence is a junior cornerback coming to WSU after playing last season at Boise State University. The Largo, Fla., native appeared in seven games as a sophomore at BSU in 2012, playing primarily on special teams, but also saw action at cornerback. He recorded eight tackles on the year and had one forced fumble.
Florence will be available to play this Saturday against Utah State University.
