Quarterback Jordan Adamczyk throws a pass in a game against California State University, Sacramento. Adamczyk has decided to leave the Weber State University football program.

Weber State University head coach Jody Sears announced Tuesday that senior quarterback Jordan Adamczyk has left the team.

“Jordan has battled a series of knee injuries, and he decided it was best for him to have surgery and finish his degree,” Sears said. “We thank Jordan for his contributions to Weber State and wish him the best in his future.”

Adamczyk will most likely be replaced by freshman Austin Chipoletti, who has been sharing playing time with Adamczyk. Chipoletti started the last three games for WSU, including the game Adamczyk sat out against Utah State University.

Sears talked about the injury Adamczyk sustained during the University of Utah game that caused him to miss the game against USU and play limited snaps thereafter.

“Jordan’s got a bad wheel,” said Sears after the Homecoming loss on Saturday. “Offensively, when you’re spreading things out a little bit, it requires the quarterback to be able to move around a little bit. That’s what Chip brings to the table: He can extend plays.”

Adamczyk, a native of Canyon Country, Calif., played in four of five games for the Wildcats this season and started in two games. This season, he was 25-54, passing for 209 yards with one touchdown and one interception along with one rushing touchdown. He finishes his college football career having completed 52-109 passes for 533 career passing yards in 13 games for the Wildcats. He threw his lone career touchdown pass against Stephen F. Austin State University in the first game of this season.

Adamczyk backed up quarterback Mike Hoke during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was third string in his freshman year. During the 2009 season, he sat out as a redshirt freshman.
