The only thing better than rock music is alternative rock music. However, sometimes it can be a real struggle finding new alternative rock music that you love, if you don’t know where to look. No one wants to go on iTunes and buy a song that you think you like, but realize that song wasn’t what you though it was. So if you are going to spend the money on iTunes, you want to make sure it is music that you will love. Here are five alternative rock songs that are worth every penny.

1. “Dangerous” (featuring Joywave) by Big Data

Any good rock song has to have some kind of great guitar or bass to it. This song is definitely one that falls into that category. It is an all-around groovy song, with bass that is pure gold. It’s a tune with somewhat of a 60s feel to it but has just the right dose of modern-day groove. Once you listen to it you can’t help but start jamming out and singing about how you are “Dangerous.”

2. “Out of the Black” by Royal Blood

When I hear this song I want to go in my bedroom, close the door, turn the volume up and starting dancing around while playing air guitar. This song is definitely good for those times where you need to blow off a little steam. The synchronization of the guitar and the drums makes for an awesome rock song. There is more of a rock feel than an alternative feel in this song, but then again, that’s what makes it so great. Royal Blood has put out some other amazing songs but this one is by far my favorite.

3. “Bad Habit” by The Kooks

This song is the latest and greatest from British rockers, The Kooks. Some of the best rock music comes from British artists, and in my opinion, these guys are some of the best. The beats, drums and “ohs” at the beginning of the song provide a beautiful transition into the chorus and the rest of the song. Every time I hear this song I can’t help but want to move my body. If you like this song then you must check out their newly released album called “Listen.”

4. “R U Mine?” by Arctic Monkeys

This song may came out last year, but in my book it will never get old. Arctic Monkeys are British rockers that have been around for quite awhile. Their latest album “AM,” is filled with many brilliant songs, but “R U Mine?” is the one that truly rocks them all. Just like “Out of the Black” by Royal Blood, this song will have you jamming out while not only playing air guitar but also air drums. Yes, it’s that good.”R U Mine?” is perfect. Everything about the song is on point. If you buy this song, you might as well just buy the whole album. You won’t be disappointed.

5. “Giants” by Bear Hands

Out of all the songs on this list, “Giants” is one that caught my attention immediately. I listened to it once and I loved it. The song has a rhythm where it goes back and forth with instrumentals in a way that is really pleasing to the ear. The two things I love most about this song would be the vocals and lyrics. They are just plain smart. If you happen to pull up next to someone while driving and they are dancing and singing their heart to this song, it’s probably me.

There you have it, five alternative rock songs that are not only guaranteed to be worth your money, but also are some of the best jams out there. You’re welcome.
