When I first saw the “Star Wars” trilogy,  it didn’t take me long to realize that there was much more to the movies than galactic battles and complicated family secrets.

Never let your fear of something get the better of you.

Anikan’s fear that Padme was going to die in childbirth made him hungry for a power he could use to save her life. However, if he would have calmed down and stayed true to what he knew to be good, he would have figured out a way to save her life all on his own.

We are in an anxious time of life, with big decisions looming every which way, but don’t let fear get the better of you. Take a deep breath, step back and remind yourself that you really can do this.

“Do or do not, there is no try.”

Oh Yoda, what would we do without your words of wisdom? Really though, it’s important to remember that anything worth doing, whether it be at school or work, or life in general, must be done to the best of your abilities.

There are far too many people in this world who are only lukewarm when it comes to fulfilling their responsibilities. This world needs more people to do things with red-hot passion.

Never leave your friends behind.

“Star Wars” is filled with rescue after rescue, even when it seems all hope is lost. Remember that hope is never lost and you never know who needs a stalwart friend.

Also remember that the number of friends you have had throughout your life doesn’t matter, the friends who count are the ones who have stood with you through thick and thin.

“Impossible to see, the future is.”

Another amazing nugget of knowledge from Yoda. I know it may seem that we have to plan out every part of our lives right this very moment, but that is definitely not the case.

Yes, it is good to have an idea of what you want, but for right now, focus on the moment. We are in the best times of our lives, so live it up.

Use the force.

All of us, whether we believe it or not, have amazing power within us. Only five percent of the world gets the opportunity to go to college, and we are part of that!

Education can be the biggest force for good, if we are willing to use it. It might be scary at first, but let that power out and you will make amazing things happen.
