Fall break has finally arrived and students are ready to enjoy a day of rest. If you ask me, one day is too little. We could complain endlessly of what really makes a great fall break, but instead why not take advantage of the various events Utah has to offer.

One event is the Day of the Dead Festival at Thanksgiving Point. This annual festival celebrates the Mexican holiday where deceased loved ones are honored by their families through prayers and the creation of altars.

The event will cost $10 per person and all children under 12 are free . During the event there will be traditional dancing and other activities native to Mexico. The festival takes place Oct. 23-24, from 5 – 10 p.m. on the 23, and 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. on the 24.

The other event that is highly anticipated by the Hispanic community is “Luz de las Naciones.” The show is organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will feature famous LDS Artist David Archuleta.

The show will consist of dance and music native to many Latin American countries. “Luz de las Naciones” will be held at the conference center in Salt Lake City from Oct. 22-25.

This event is free and open to the public, you do not need to be LDS to attend the program. For more information regarding tickets you can visit lds.org.

If time and money are short, now is a perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy the vibrant colors of fall. It costs nothing to go out on a hike and enjoy the beauty of the season.

If you have no money this fall break, or have nothing interesting to do, these options are cheap and will be very entertaining.
