Senior tennis star Agata Bachanek is this weeks Signpost athlete of the week for her performance against Boise State University last week.
Though the team lost overall in the meet against the Broncos, Bachanek was victorious on the day, winning both her singles and doubles matches. During the doubles match, Bachanek and her partner freshman Sarah Parker defeated the No. 1 duo from Boise State 6-4. In her singles match, she was able to rally back after dropping the first set 6-4 to the No. 1 player and Mountain West all- conference player Teal Vosburgh. She was able to win the next set 6-1 and finished off the tie breaker winning 13-11.
Bachanek was selected to the Big Sky all-conference first team for her efforts as a junior. She recorded a 15-5 win-loss record overall and was 8-3 in conference play. In recognition of her performance, the Big Sky Conference named her player of the week, the second time she has received the honor in her career at Weber State. Bachanek and the women’s team will return to the court Jan. 29 as they travel on the road to face off in a tournament in Las Vegas.
