The colors of graduation: Tassels and Cords

For those who attend Weber State’s spring graduation ceremony on April 29, they will notice a plethora of colors in tassels and cords. Many will be wondering what they mean and what they represent. Below are some of the different colors of tassels and cords one might expect to see during graduation.

Tassels:

Black – College of Applied Science and Technology
Orange – Electronics Engineering (Bachelor Degrees)
White – Telitha E. Lindquist College of Arts and Humanities
Crimson – Master of Professional Communication
Brown – John B. Goddard School of Business and Economics
Light Blue – Jerry and Vicki Moyes College of Education
Apricot – Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions
Salmon – Master and Bachelor of Health Administration
Golden Yellow – College of Science
Cream – College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
Citron – Master of Criminal Justice
Cream – Interdisciplinary Studies
Purple and White – Associate Degree in General Studies

Cords:

Purple and White – Bachelor Degree honor cord

White – Associate Degree honor cord
