Entrepreneurs and community members interested in what it takes to be successful in a new business are invited to attend and participate in the upcoming 1 Million Cups event at the Downtown Weber State University Small Business Development Center on Sept. 7.

According to their website, 1 Million Cups is a free, national program designed to educate, engage and connect entrepreneurs. It is based on the notion that entrepreneurs network and discover solutions over a million cups of coffee.

The Ogden chapter of 1 Million Cups was chartered in the spring of this year, and according to Brandon Stoddard, the Director of Utah Small Business Development Center at the Weber State Downtown facility, the program has been a great learning experience for presenters and audiences who have attended the first two meetings.

Meeting on the first Wednesday of each month, the Ogden 1 Million Cups group has held two events since being chartered.

At each meeting, two entrepreneurs are invited to share their business plans with the group and to receive valuable feedback from the attendees, many of whom are successful business leaders in the community.

The first two meetings of the group included founders and representatives from Boss Ammunition, O-Town Kitchen, Apprintus LLC and Julie Hansen Nutrition. Julie Hansen, the founder of her company, said that she was overwhelmed by how receptive the business people were to her business and how willing they were to help.

The Sept. 7 meeting is scheduled to include presentations by Vidit, an Information/Communications Tech company, and Cutting Edge Precision, an Aerospace Company.

Admission is free and breakfast will be served. The breakfast begins at 8:30 A.M. The meeting starts at 9:00 A.M. and wraps up at about 10:00 A.M., with some attendees staying around after the meeting to network and ask more questions.
