Available: Apple, Android

Description: SafeTrek is an app that allows users to alert the police when they’re in an unsafe situation and need help. When feeling unsafe, the user presses a button on the screen and holds it until they feel safe or they need police. If they feel safe, they have 10 seconds to enter a 4-digit pin, and if they need help, they simply do nothing. The app will notify the local police department.

Pros: The app does not require users to speak, if for some reason they can’t, because all the information about them will be preloaded into the app. In addition to this, there is a real person on the other side of the app who will be able to talk them through the whole process.

Cons: The app is only free for the first week. There is a monthly option, 2.99 per month, or a yearly plan which runs 29.99 per year.

Overall: The app is perfect for those who want peace of mind, who often travel alone or may currently be living in an unsafe situation.
