Finding adventure in books

College semesters are usually chaotic, filled with homework, jobs, social events and family obligations. By the time we get a break, we’re too burned out to enjoy the adventures we’ve been waiting for all semester long.

But what if you could go on an adventure from the comfort of your living room, your seat on the bus or your favorite bench in a park?

College students often don’t have time to read for pleasure, but now that summer is here, books are the perfect way to get out and experience an adventure! Check out these enticing reads below.

The Selection Series: If you love TV shows like ABC’s “The Bachelor” and the futuristic sense of The Hunger Games, then you’ve got to get your hands on this book. Set in a society that has risen from the ashes of a destroyed North America, “The Selection” is the story of America Singer, a 17-year-old impoverished musician who is forced compete with 35 other girls to win the heart of Prince Maxon, even though she’s in love with someone else.

The Blue Eyes Trilogy: If Twilight and vampires are your thing, here’s a series for you. On her 16th birthday, Arianna learns she is a vampire and her world goes topsy-turvey. As if learning the ins and outs of  vampirism isn’t hard enough, the vampires are at war. As the story goes on, Arianna learns that she may be the one that has to stop the fighting. It’s up to her to choose a side and decide her fate.

Vorkosigan Saga: If you’re into Star Wars, outer space and action-packed galactic battles, these are a must-read. Made up of 15 different books, the Vork0sigan Saga follows a number of different characters and their fight for survival. Filled with both humor and tragedy, these books have won several prestigious science fiction awards.
