Once we advance from tween years we tend to leave the childish life behind. Gone are playing with toys and holding hands with Mom. One thing that stays consistent is television, and our favorite childhood shows start to morph into serious adult shows.

But every now and then we flip through the stations and land on a cartoon that catches our attention, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Here is a list of children shows that are treasured by children and adults alike.

Adventure Time

This gem airs on Cartoon Network and is worth checking out. Jake the dog and Finn the human spend their days fighting evil across the land of Ooo. Their main focus is to protect the numerous amounts of abnormal princesses who continue to be kidnapped by the Ice King in his search for a bride.

This show has an interesting plot and isn’t like your typical cartoon series. It’s set in post-apocalyptic Earth where humans are a rare breed. Finn and Jake have a wide variety of friends, from vampires to candy people who help them through their journey.

My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic

Full of colorful ponies and unicorns this show is appealing to the eyes. It airs on The Hub and you can catch re-runs on Netflix. Although this show is frilly, it has a huge following. There is even a group of adult males dubbed “Bronies” who dedicate their lives to the show.

Twilight Sparkle joins Rainbow Dash, Apple Jack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity in adventures and friendship. They have hilarious moments and experience hardships that are relatable to adults. This show may be targeted for children but once you watch the first episode, you’ll be hooked.

Fairly Odd Parents

Nickelodeon has a tendency to introduce shows that are way out there, and Fairly Odd Parents is no different. Don’t let the bright colors of this cartoon fool you; this show is one worth watching. There is some humor here that children just don’t get.

Timmy Turner is an only child who feels neglected by his parents. Feeling his desperation, a pair of fairies, Cosmo and Wanda, enter his life and fun ensues. Any wish that Timmy desires the fairies are there to grant it, even though there could be terrible consequences.

Get warped in Timmy Turner’s world and you won’t regret it.

Arthur

Based off the popular children’s books, this show brings those characters alive. PBS animates Arthur the aardvark in this educational program. If you’re a fan of the books, then this is a must-watch show.

Arthur lives in the small town of Elwood City with his family and friends. He’s an 8-year-old kid whose teacher gives him loads of homework and at home he’s the eldest child with two sisters who drive him crazy. Hang out with Arthur and his friends, and you’ll probably learn a few lessons in the process.

Phineas and Ferb

Disney Channel has given us a lot of great stars like Selena Gomez and Hillary Duff. And then there’s Phineas and Ferb. They are brothers who try to keep their summer break interesting by creating an abundance of science projects. Their house is the hotspot in the neighborhood if you want to have fun.

Although Phineas and Ferb spend their time trying to enjoy their summer vacation, their sister, Candace, is bent on getting her brothers in trouble for all of the crazy experiments. This hilarious show will keep you laughing between their recurring peculiar characters and the moments when everyone breaks out in song. Make your summer more enjoyable by entering into their world.
