Top five fall date ideas

The air is now turning brisk and the leaves are falling from the trees. This season can offer some of the most simple, yet fun dates that no other season offers.

Carve a pumpkin.

Halloween is right around the corner and this is the only time during the year that you get the chance to carve pumpkins. This can make a great date activity that is inexpensive and allows each person a chance to let out their creative side.

My favorite part of carving pumpkins is pulling out the guts and feeling how squishy and slimy they are in my hand. Last year I decided that my boyfriend and I were going to carve pumpkins. I have never been stellar with sharp objects, especially knives. Towards the middle of evening my boyfriend and a friend of mine decided to take the knife away from me once I almost cut myself.

Go to a corn maze.

Corn mazes are a great way to spend some time and get to know a person. You’re stuck with them at least until you get out of the maze, which for some people may be longer than others. Located at 2801 S. 3500 W. near West Haven, The Corn Maize offers both a haunted corn maze and a regular corn maze for any people who, like me, are not fans of scary attractions.

They are open Monday through Thursday from 4-9 p.m., Friday from 4-11:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Admission is $8 per person for the regular maze, and the haunted trail costs $12 per person and is only open after 8 p.m. A haunted corn maze can provide the opportunity for you to look to your date to protect you from any scary monsters, which can add to the flirtatious fun of a date.

Play in the leaves.

As a child I would rake up all the leaves in my yard and jump in them. I would do this for hours on end during the brisk fall afternoons.

I remember the smell of dry leaves and how much I loved that crispy crunch beneath me when I would lie down in the pile. This is an inexpensive date that can take each of you back to your childhood. It’s simple and can give you a great chance to talk and get to know each other.

What season is it? Football!

It’s indeed football season, and being students we are in a great position being able to attend a game. This can make for an inexpensive date for any sports fan. Take a blanket and a mug of hot cocoa to share and you can get out and support the Weber State Wildcats on the field. The next home game is Oct. 25. You can support the home team while getting to know each other a little bit better.

Pick out Halloween costumes.

Have you picked out a costume for Halloween yet? If not this can be a fun date idea that can give a couple a chance to make jokes and get to know each other’s personalities just a little bit better. Even if you don’t buy anything, it can still be fun to look, try on masks and show the other person your silly side. You can literally be whoever or whatever you want to be on this date. Whatever you decide to do, have fun.
