A decade of tuition assistance

The Dream Weber program has been assisting financially-challenged students through college since it was announced in 2010. The program provides fee and tuition assistance for students whose reported household income is less than $40,000.

Dream Weber was developed in 2009 and introduced in 2010. The purpose is to make college more accessible to a wider array of students while providing financial assistance for those who qualify.

“If Pell Grants don’t cover tuition, this can,” Jed Spencer, the Executive Director of Financial Aid for Weber State, said.

Dream Weber was developed out of the necessity to provide further options to students whose financial situations may not grant access to higher education.

Applying for the Dream Weber program is simple. The qualifications for the program include Utah residency, a household income of $40,000 or less, eligibility for federal Pell Grants and status as an undergraduate student with less than 150 credit hours.

Students are expected to reapply for the program each year as well as maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 with a course load of 12-18 credit hours per semester.

Spencer also advises students they also must have their FAFSA submitted by April 1 in order to apply on time.

For a decade, the Dream Weber program has been providing tuition assistance and supplementation to students with financial limitations to obtaining an education. The program is centered in the goal of providing an ever-growing scope of educational opportunity to those who seek it and may not have the means to pay.

Students are automatically considered for the Dream Weber program upon successful completion and submission of a FAFSA application.
