Ogden Express aims to impress

The Bus Rapid Transit line that will run through Weber State University’s Ogden campus now has an official name. Weber State announced that the official title will be Ogden Express, or OGX, during a press conference on Sept. 22.

The official BRT Facebook page hosted a live video of the event, with a caption that said, “The Ogden/WSU Bus Rapid Transit official name unveiling is underway. Allison Hess, public relations director for WSU, and James Larson, UTA public relations specialist, unveiled boards stating the new name and logo designs for OGX. Beth Holbrook, member of the Board of Trustees at UTA, led the press conference.

Holbrook said many contributing partners were instrumental in deciding the design and name of OGX. Holbrook said they wanted to represent what the bus line and future projects will entail.

There will be other projects that will connect downtown Ogden, and the name needed to represent all future parts of this project, according to Holbrook.

“These projects are designed to be collectively connected,” Holbrook said.

Holbrook also stated that the red and blue design for the logo represented the new express name for the BRT.

Weber State University President Brad Mortensen also commented at the press conference.

“I’m very confident that generations from now, folks will look back at this investment in our campus and in our community in a positive light,” Mortensen said.

The official Facebook page for the Ogden Bus Rapid Transit has updated their profile picture to the new OGX logo and has also posted the live video for all to watch.
