[media-credit id=46 align=”alignright” width=”195″][/media-credit]A 24-year-old male student was legally carrying a concealed weapon west of Lampros Hall Wednesday night when the firearm accidentally discharged in the student’s pants pocket.
The gun fired a single shot that wounded the student in his left leg. Weber State University police and medical personnel responded to the incident, and the student was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.
John Kowalewski, director of media relations at WSU, said all information gathered at this point indicates the discharge was an accident, and the student was within his legal rights to be carrying a concealed weapon on campus.
