Weber Historical Society hosts polygamy lecture
As part of the Weber Historical Society’s Fall 2013 Lecture Series, the authors of a new book, “Persistence of Polygamy: From Joseph Smith’s Martyrdom to the First Manifesto, 1844 to 1890 (Volume II)” will speak on Sept. 23. at 7 p.m. in the Lindquist Alumni Center. This is Weber Historical Society’s first lecture of the semester. It is free and open to the public.
Alumni Association hosts awards ceremony
The WSU Alumni Association will host an awards ceremony honoring outstanding students and alumni for their service to the campus and community on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning, Dumke Legacy Hall. This year’s award recipients are Distinguished Alumnus, Mike Malaska; Young Alumnus, Brett Jones; Lewis W. Shurtliff Award for Contributions to Education, Louenda Downs; Distinguished Service, Bonnie Clark and Bettye Gillespie; Emeriti Lifetime Achievement, Leon Clark; Emeriti Homecoming Royalty, Dean and Kathy Hughes; Student Royalty, Tessa Diamond and Nicholas DeYoung; and the WSU President’s Award, Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell.
