Fall is a great time for dates. The weather is cool, the leaves are changing and there are a vast amount of activities to do with your significant other.
Leading up to the holiday there are many things related to Halloween going on, but there are also other fun things that don’t involve being scared.
Here are some ideas for fun fall dates:
One fun thing to do in the beginning of fall is to go to the drive-in movie. Before it gets cold it’s nice to go hang out in the cool evening, then cuddle up with your date while watching the movie.
Coleman’s Motor VU in Riverdale even lets you make requests for certain movies. If you go to their website and look at the FAQ’s, there is an email address you can send requests to.
Another great place for couples is Black Island Farms in Syracuse. They have a corn maze, hayrides, a haunted house, bonfires, live music and even fresh produce for purchase.
Along the same lines as Black Island Farms, Punkinaze in West Haven has a huge corn maze along with fun slides, bonfires and snacks.
As far as haunted houses go, several pop up every year. The most popular ones are Castle of Chaos in Riverdale, Haunted Hollow in Ogden and Nightmare on 13th in Salt Lake.
Nightmare on 13th’s website claims they are the scariest haunted house in Utah. Go there if you dare.
Haunted tours around town are becoming more popular and Downtown Ogden offers one during the Halloween season. Participants can purchase walking or bus tour tickets and can choose from a variety of different places to visit.
The tours start at the Union Station and last for an hour and a half. For more information you can visit their website.
If you’re not into being scared there are still plenty of activities that don’t involve creepy creatures. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is being shown at Peery’s Egyptian Theater in Ogden. It’s only there on Oct. 24-25, so don’t miss out!
The Hogle Zoo hosts the Boo at the Zoo celebration on the last Saturday of October. Although it’s mostly geared toward little kids, it can be fun to walk around and look at the costumes and the animals.
The Ogden Nature Center has a similar activity called Creatures of the Night on Oct. 24-25. They encourage dressing up in costumes and participating in activities such as night walks on trails and learning about nocturnal animals. Best of all, the event is only $6 per person. You can’t go wrong with that!
If all else fails, a classic horror movie night can be the perfect date. Classics like “Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th” are always fun to watch. All you need is some popcorn to make it a perfect night!
