Fatal accident closes intersection near Weber State University

Updated April 29, 11:15 a.m.: Ogden City Police has identified the victim as 27-year-old Joshua Johnson of Layton, Utah.

Updated 6:48 p.m.: In a press release issued earlier this afternoon, Ogden City Police said the motorcyclist who died at the scene was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The release also identified the other vehicle involved in the crash as a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle at the corner of 42nd Street and Harrison Boulevard left one person dead Monday night.

Officers responded to the call at about 7:30 p.m., according to Lt. Will Cragun of the Ogden City Police Department, A 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was riding a motorcycle southbound on Harrison Boulevard when he hit a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old woman making a left hand turn from Harrison onto 42nd street, Cragun said.

The accident closed Harrison Boulevard for several hours between 42nd Street and 44th Street, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. The scene was cleared and closures were lifted around 10 p.m.
