The Weber State Career Fair brought 86 employers to the WSU Shepherd Union Building on Jan. 26. They ranged from call centers and sales positions to jobs with the federal government. Employers looked to hire qualified candidates to meet their growing needs, which includes overcoming language barriers.

Many employers mentioned the benefits of knowing a second language. Candidates with a knowledge of another language, especially Spanish, are at an advantage among their peers because of a globalizing economy and a growing Hispanic population within the United States. Spanish has even surpassed English as the second-most spoken language with now 399 million speakers worldwide.
